Moving to a new home, even in Sunny Naples Florida can be stressful.

Moving home is one of the most stressful things we do, it has a huge impact on our well being and our ability to concentrate on normal things.  When you decide to move to a new home, you instantly emerge into a whirlwind of emotions, thoughts, and actions that do not exist in your normal life.

Actually making the decision in the first place is huge, sometimes the move to Naples is corporate which helps with the stress level.  But for most of us, moving is something we do throughout our lives on our own for various reasons,  from renting our first condo with a group of friends to buying your first home to accommodate a growing family, new jobs, new opportunities.  There is a myriad of reasons for packing up our belongings and starting again in a new location.

Once the decision to move has been made the next is choosing the right Realtor, having the right person by your side can really make a huge difference to your experience in selling and buying a new property.  However, all Realtors are not created equal.  We may all go through the same training, know the same rules and work by the same ethics and laws.  But there is one fundamental thing that we all differ in and that is, experience in life itself.

A few months ago one of my top producing Agents came to me almost in tears. They had been in the Real Estate business for over 8 years, helped numerous people buy and sell and won awards for the number of closed homes. In all that time the Agent had been living in a great location, it was a rental, but now the owners of the building were selling and as a tenant, it was time to move on.

Putting together deals, negotiating for their clients had always just been a job, something they enjoyed, but not something they lost sleep over.  Now, a few months later, after having bought their own home, that Realtor has real-life experience.  They confided in me that they never fully realized the stress of buying a home, the ups, downs, and hoops we have to jump through. Finding the right property, making an offer, negotiating, getting a mortgage, waiting for approvals, home inspections, repairs, not to mention the physical work involved in packing up a home into boxes.

A Realtor who has experience in life may find it easier to empathize with what their clients are going through.  I try to instill in the Agents I work with, just how important it is for all of us in the Naples Real Estate industry, to take a step back and think about what our clients are going through emotionally and how just a quick reassuring phone call can make all the difference in the world.
